Spay San Jose

Low-Cost Spay and Neuter Programs
in San Jose and Silicon Valley

Last updated: July 3, 2024

Spay neuter services for community cats is extremely limited right now. Our local animal shelters are all operating at maximum capacity right now, but they are all trying to help as many people as they can get cats fixed via TNR.

DO NOT trap a cat until you have secured an appointment to get it fixed, unless the cat is pregnant, sick, or injured and you have confirmed that the shelter or a vet is able to take it.

Please follow the directions below for the city the cat is located in.
Once you have gotten an appointment, contact us if you need to borrow a trap.

What city is the cat in?

San Jose, Milpitas, Cupertino, or Saratoga:

The  San Jose Animal Care Center   (2750 Monterey Rd, San Jose) manages Animal Control services for all of these cities.  Visibly pregnant, sick, or injured cats can be brought into the shelter without an appointment. For other cats, please check their online appointment booking page or email them (sjtnr@sanjoseca.gov) to see if and when you can get an appointment to bring the cat in.  Do NOT call them or stop by the shelter.

Santa Clara, Campbell, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, or Mountain View:

The Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (3370 Thomas Rd, Santa Clara) manages Animal Control services for these cities. Please call them to see if and when you can get an appointment to bring the cats in: 408-764-0344.

County Unincorporated Areas, Morgan Hill, or Gilroy:

Contact the Santa Clara County Animal Shelter (12370 Murphy Avenue, San Martin) which managed Animal Control services for these communities. You can call them at 408-686-3900 or email them (scc.animalshelter@cep.sccgov.org) to see if and when you can get an appointment to bring the cats in.

Sunnyvale

The Humane Society of Silicon Valley (901 Ames Ave, Milpitas) manages Animal Control services for the City of Sunnyvale. As space is available, they also sometimes can help fix cats trapped within the City of Milpitas. Please email them (medicalcenter@hssv.org) to see if and when you can get an appointment to bring the cats in.

Palo Alto, Los Altos, or Los Altos Hills:

The City of Palo Alto manages Animal Control services for these cities. Please call their animal control department with questions about stray or community cats: (650) 329-2413.

Other Cities / Counties

We are sorry, but our volunteers are only familiar with the current status of animal care services in Santa Clara County. If you live in any other county, please reach out to the agency that provides animal control services for your city.

We know the following organizations were helping folks with community cats pre-pandemic, but we don’t know what the current status of their services is:
