Lani is female, and 1 1/2 years old. She is FIV+ and is the mother of Starr & Dakota.

Lani was rescued from a backyard in San Mateo last July after giving birth to Starr and Dakota. Lani was just a baby herself and had to care for her babies till they all were rescued.  All three girls are loving, sweet and very affectionate.  They live with three feline foster brothers and keep the boys very entertained.  Lani is about 1 1/2 and Starr and Dakota are 8 months old.  They love to play with humans as well as their feline family and Dakota especially is very curious and fearless.
The girls are special needs kitties because they are FIV+.  There are many misconceptions about kitties that are FIV+.  FIV is an immune deficiency virus and is feline specific and cannot infect humans or any other species.  It is not contagious among other cats either.  It is not transmissible through casual contact such as sharing water bowls, food dishes, grooming, playing or sneezing.  FIV is transmitted through blood from deep bite wounds.  As long as a healthy life style is maintained and the kitties are kept indoors, life expectancy is on par with FIV- kitties.  The girls three foster brothers are all FIV-.  All girls are spayed, vaccinated, worm and flea free.
Please contact their foster mom, Cathy to come meet the girls and see how FIV+ and FIV- cats can live together: 415-860-5159
